ASID VA and IIDA VA/WV invite you to enter your projects in the annual IDEAs! Entries are judged by a panel of professionals who represent all aspects of the design community.

Winning projects will be presented at the Design Awards Gala in September 2025.

Submission Eligibility:

• Projects must represent exceptional interior design work
• Project must have been completed January 1, 2022 or later
• Projects can be located in or out of state
• Project must not have been published in a national trade mag
• Projects can be submitted by individual designers or firms
• Designers and firms must be located in Virginia or West VA
• More than one project may be submitted
• Each project can be entered into multiple categories but each must be submitted as an individual entry

Judging Criteria:

• Success and creative response in meeting the client’s stated needs and objectives
• Scale and proportion
• Color composition
• Effective use of lighting
• Relationship of materials, textures, and patterns
• Appropriateness of furnishings
• Use of space planning to achieve functional objectives
• Attention to detail 

Entry Fees:

• $150 per entry for ASID VA and IIDA VA/WV Members
• $200 per entry for non-members
• Fees are not refundable

Deadline:

• Registration and Submissions Due – June 16, 2025

How to Submit:

Award submissions will be completed and submitted in the online portal. 

1. Click the green "Register" button, which will prompt you to create an account.
2. From there, select and purchase an entry for each category and submission you plan to enter.
3. After purchase, provide the requested information in each entry portal. 

Each entry will ask for the following project information: 

1. Project size and completion date.
2. Details of the percentage of the firm's involvement in the project.
3. A 500 word (or less) project concept statement, potentially including:
   • A design concept (important)
   • Project description
   • Client objectives and needs
   • Challenges, obstacles, and opportunities
   • Design solutions and applications
   • Budget parameters and solutions
   • Evaluation and measurement of success
   • Your role in the project phases
   • Any noteworthy technical features
   • ADA, environmental issues, health or safety (note codes where applicable)
   • Sustainable initiatives (i.e. LEED)
4. A four sentence summary of the project as you want described in the script at the awards gala and in publications.
5. Submission PDF (10 MB maximum)
   • upload (1) PDF document detailing the design
   • Can include:
     • floor plans
     • before photos
     • final photos
     • any supporting visuals that explain the work
     • support documentation such as references from the client
   • No mention of designer name or firm is allowed. Failure to block out any mention of designer name or firm names will result in disqualification.
6. High Resolution Images
   • Upload at least 6 final project images in JPG format, less than 10 MB per image
   • These will be used to promote the project in the awards gala presentation

Failure to provide all requested details with result in disqualification.

You have until June 16, 2025 to purchase entries and add the necessary project information.

Call for Student Entries! 

ASID VA and IIDA VA/WV invite you to enter your design projects in the annual IDEAs! Entries are judged by a panel of professionals who represent all aspects of the design community.

Winning projects will be presented at the Design Awards Gala in Richmond in September 2025.

Awards are open to students at any level. 

How to Enter:

Award submissions will be completed and submitted in the online portal. 

1. Click the green "Register" button, which will prompt you to create an account.
2. From there, select and purchase an entry for each category and submission you plan to enter.
3. After purchase, provide the requested information in each entry portal. 

To enter, please share the details of one of your favorite projects:

• The final document may contain as many pages as you like but should be combined into one (1) PDF file not exceeding 5 MB. 
• In your submission, sell us on why your project is award worthy!
  • Visuals might include a floor plan, hand or digital renderings, elevations, materials and furniture selections, quick sketches, lighting plans etc. 
• Submissions must include a concept statement with key highlights applicable to your project.
  • This may include evidence based design research, sustainability aspects, ADA Accessibility,  health/wellness, project objectives, challenges, key design solutions and applications, space planning theories, etc. 
• DO NOT include any personal or school information in your submission (failure to do so will result in disqualification!)

Fees

• Free for IIDA or ASID Student members, $30 for non-members

Winner Promotion:

• All winners, honorable mentions and first place winners, will be featured in an article produced by IIDA and ASID highlighting the projects and students.
• The first place winner will receive a one on one portfolio and resume review with a professional from Hanbury, and their credentials shared with other industry professionals.
