Call for Professional Entries!

ASID VA and IIDA VA/WV invite you to enter your projects in the annual IDEAs! Entries are judged by a panel of professionals who represent all aspects of the design community.

Winning projects will be presented at the Design Awards Gala in Richmond in the Fall of 2026.

Submission Eligibility:

Eligible projects must:

  • represent exceptional interior design work
  • completed January 1, 2023 or later
  • submitted by individual designers or firm located in Virginia or West Virginia

Projects must not

  • have been published in a national trade magazine

Additionally...

  • projects can be located in or out of state
  • more than one project may be submitted
  • a project may be entered into multiple categories but each must be submitted as an individual entry

Judging Criteria:

  • Success and creative response in meeting the client’s stated needs and objectives
  • Scale and proportion
  • Color composition
  • Effective use of lighting
  • Relationship of materials, textures, and patterns
  • Appropriateness of furnishings
  • Use of space planning to achieve functional objectives
  • Attention to detail 

Judges are located in several states outside of Virginia and represent a broad range of expertise. The judges may choose to decide how many, if any, awards to assign in each category. 

Entry Fees:

  • $150 per entry for ASID VA and IIDA VA/WV Members
  • $200 per entry for non-members
  • Fees are not refundable

Deadline:

  • Registration and Submissions Due – June 2, 2026

 


 

How to Submit:

Award submissions will be completed and submitted in the online portal. 

  1. Click the green "Register" button, which will prompt you to create an account.
  2. From there, select and purchase an entry for each category and submission you plan to enter.
  3. After purchase, provide the requested information in each entry portal. 

Each entry will ask for the following project information: 

  1. Project size and completion date.
  2. Details of the percentage of the firm's involvement in the project.
  3. A 500 word (or less) project concept statement, potentially including:
    • A design concept (important)
    • Project description
    • Client objectives and needs
    • Challenges, obstacles, and opportunities
    • Design solutions and applications
    • Budget parameters and solutions
    • Evaluation and measurement of success
    • Your role in the project phases
    • Any noteworthy technical features
    • ADA, environmental issues, health or safety (note codes where applicable)
    • Sustainable initiatives (i.e. LEED)
  4. A four sentence summary of the project as you want described in the script at the awards gala and in publications.
  5. Submission PDF (10 MB maximum)
    • upload (1) PDF document detailing the design
    • Can include:
      • floor plans
      • before photos
      • final photos
      • any supporting visuals that explain the work
      • support documentation such as references from the client
    • No mention of designer name or firm is allowed. Failure to block out any mention of designer name or firm names will result in disqualification.
  6. High Resolution Images
    • Upload at least 6 final project images in JPG format, less than 10 MB per image
    • These will be used to promote the project in the awards gala presentation

Failure to provide all requested details with result in disqualification.

You have until June 2, 2026 to purchase entries and add the necessary project information.
